Concrete driveway finishes
FAQS
-
The cost depends on the size of the area, site access, ground conditions, drainage, preparation work and the finish you choose.
As a general guide, pricing usually starts from around $100 per square metre, with standard concrete typically costing less than coloured concrete or exposed aggregate.
-
It depends on the size and complexity of the job, along with weather and site conditions. As a guide, at Foleycrete, our usual lead time is around 2 to 3 weeks, and once work starts, a typical driveway or concrete project takes 10-14 days from prep through to finish.
-
Poor prep, drainage considerations and finishing can lead to puddles, cracking, messy edges and a driveway that doesn’t last as long as it should.
Then there’s the risk of concrete splashes around your home if the site isn’t properly protected.
A good concrete driveway comes down to proper prep, smart drainage, well-timed control cuts and a clean finish.
-
It depends on the look you want, your budget and how the area will be used. Standard concrete is practical and cost-effective, coloured concrete is popular for a darker finish and exposed aggregate gives a more decorative, textured look. We can talk you through the options and recommend what will suit your home.
-
That depends on the size, slope and layout of your driveway. We assess drainage during the site visit so water flows where it should and doesn’t create puddles or problems around your home.
Larger driveways may also need more sophisticated drainage than simply sending water out to the street. This might include installing catch pits that connect to the storm water system or digging extra soak holes to connect to existing drainage.
-
It depends on the size and shape of the driveway, but we generally place control cuts around every 3 to 4 metres. These cuts help manage natural movement in the concrete and reduce the risk of random cracking.
